4 Nepalese die after eating poisonous mushroom

At least four persons in western Nepal died Saturday after consuming poisonous mushroom, local police office confirmed here Sunday.

"About four persons including two children and two women died after consuming wild mushroom in Tansen city of Palpa district, some 250 km west of Kathmandu," district police office said in a press statement.

"All of them died while they were undergoing treatment in United Mission Hospital at the city," the statement quoted the hospital as saying.

A total of 32 people from the same area were admitted to the hospital for treatment after consuming poisonous wild mushroom on last Thursday and Friday, the statement noted, adding, "About 12 seriously ill people are undergoing treatment at the hospital."

Meanwhile, at least five people fainted on Saturday after consuming poisonous wild mushroom in Bhaktapur city of Bhaktapur district in Kathmandu Valley.

"All of them are undergoing treatment at Bhaktapur Hospital at the district," district police office said.

At least four persons died after consuming poisonous wild mushroom at Sarte Deurali village of western Tanahun district of Nepal, some 150 km west of Kathmandu, about a month ago.
